We got the felt paper underlay up in the bathroom. I've decided that NO WATER will damage this bathroom...the Backer Board will go up next...and then liquid sealant and then tile...
So it may be decade before it happens....at this rate...

yes it is...I would commit hari kari by box knife if I had to MUD THE WALLS...
note, that the floor already has CBU on it.. Do you recommend floors before walls? or the other way around? And ned left his bucket...

Nice barrier, don't wanna be getting the VAPORS! [/scarlett o'hara]
I'd do walls first, as long as your sure the floor isn't rotted. And be sure to wet the cement board right before you put the mortar onnit, it'll bond better. And I'd go with 12" tiles, they look modern and it's a lot easier to put up one 12" x12" tile than 4 6"x6"s and easier to grout too. |

How the hell do you people know stuff like this?
And what is your going rate? |

Well, we can't get the backer too wet, as we will be putting a waterproof sealant on it...I guess I should try it on a sample so I don't have a rude
surprise. Like the mortar not sticking to it... Working with the tar was an eye opener. Why didn't i realize it would get on everything??? Thank jebus for
gojo.
I got so many quotes from tile guys that were between 3 and 5 thousand dollars just for the tile work that I got pissed off enough to try it myself. I may regret it.

Oh hell no, that's outrageous. Tile work is easy, just go to home depot and get a workforce wet tile saw for $88, some cheap plastic spacers, a cheap mixer
that plugs into your drill to mix the mortar and grout, and some unsanded grout and you can do it for 10 percent of their price.

i'm hoping for that...it might end up costing us a marriage though....

Bendy said be sure to put mortar on the back of the tile before you set it in, and push firmly.
Tech support is available by phone, as well.

In the last three days (of my vacation) I finished stripping wallpaper in the kitchen, painted Kilz on the living room, dining room, kitchen, entryway and
hallway ceilings (they were SEMI-GLOSS...THE CEILINGS, FOR GODS SAKE!), fixed the broken wood gate, took down the ceiling fan in the bedroom and put it in the
kitchen, took down the ceiling fan in the living room and replaced it with a brand new one, peeled the wallpaper off the bathroom, primered it and painted it,
put the mirror/lights/medicine cabinet back up, and threw all the pieces parts from the living room fan into the bedroom to put up tomorrow, removed all light
switch/electical outlet/phone/cable covers to paint them, filled the garage with tools and supplies and swept a couple years worth of leaves off the roof.
I have three more days of vacation, I can't wait to get back to work and rest. |

LOL...I HEAR YOU. My vacay starts tomorrow. I get to start moving us out of the master bedroom. They are going to demolish the concrete slab beneath the built
in dresser. Which translates into living out of boxes for the next month
