Normally I don't worry about tropical storms/hurricanes here but they are tearing off our old roof today. Who wants to bet that means Gainesville will get

Is it just me or does Fay sound like a dumb name for a storm?
Something like Ferocia might have made more sense. Maybe they were hoping to tame it? Like naming a pit bull Giggles or something.

Fay was a dud over here. USAirways (and Delta later) canceled my flight for a fun work trip, so now I have to go to the office for the rest of the week. :-/
All that for a tenth of an inch of rain.

The roof is fine. They'll finish it when the storm passes, probably Monday or so.
They declared a State of Emergency for Fay 10 days ago. This has been one slow storm. It looks to be breaking up now so I think we're in the clear.

At one point when I checked it yesterday, it was tracked with a 2 km/h forward speed, though it had sped up to 6 km/h by last night. Fay's not in any rush,
sorta like Frances back in 2004, only not as strong..

I remember they declared it a stateof emergency the night the Olympics started. That was more than 10 days ago. I'm thinking the Gov is a little bit psychic.
